Troubleshooting Issues

What causes buffering?

There’s a few things I want to go over here that are absolutely critical for you to have a better experience with your Best Choice Media service, obviously we have to have good internet and optimize our app to perform at it’s best. Let’s let’s jump into that so first things:

  • Wi-Fi speeds, internet speeds; whatever you want to call it, data that’s coming in from your ISP(internet Service Provider} to your modem into your router, if you are trying to watch a streaming service on 15 20 25 Mbps of speed that’s coming in from your ISP, it’s gonna work but it’s not gonna work well as 40, 60 or100+ mpbs of speed. These speeds much be hitting your device. Just because your modem or router gets 200 Mpbs down, does not mean you are getting that speed at your device.
  • Multiple Devices in use. Having multiple devices on your internet network can slow loading time. If you are using a game console, mobile phone, tablet, or PC while watching a streaming video will cause the issue. Disconnecting them should help speed up your streaming.
Please keep in mind that if large numbers of people are accessing a single streaming source at the same time. This will create a bottleneck.
  • Proform a Speed test. An internet speed test is the best way to get an idea of how fast your connection is right now. The service you connect to often limits your download and upload speeds based on the plan you chose, local congestion, any throttling rules it has, and so on. www.speedtest.com If you do not get 20 Mpbs at your device, you may need a wifi extender.

Wi-Fi extenders help to boost your Wi-Fi signal by acting as a sort of lightning rod, receiving the signal from your router and broadcasting it to the area of your house that could use a signal boost. One plugs into your wireless router and the other plugs into an internet-ready device, or connects to a wireless device, like a FireTV Stick or laptop.

Three Things that can affect your Wi-Fi Signal.

  1. WiFi Router Positioning. Most people underestimate the importance of picking a good spot for a Wi-Fi router. The same can be said for positioning your Fire Stick. Use the extender that comes in the box to make moving your stick into a position easier.
  2. Wireless Interference from other devices. Microwaves, Cordless phones, walkie talkies, mirrors and even baby monitors operate at a frequency which is incredibly close to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band. …
  3. Your neighbours! Neighbours’ WiFi devices. If you live in an apartment style residence, you may experience signal issues from multiple devices.
